FAMILY-RUN · LIMERICK · SINCE 1994

Now branded in Limerick

We now supply and brand the full Portwest range at HiVisWorkwear.ie. Every jacket, bodywarmer, vest and pair of trousers can be embroidered or printed with your logo in our own Limerick factory, where we have been decorating workwear since 1994.

Portwest is a natural fit for us. It is an Irish company, founded by Charles Hughes in Westport, Co. Mayo in 1904 and still run by the Hughes family. It now sells in more than 130 countries and holds stock in Ireland. That combination of Irish roots and serious scale is why you see Portwest on so many Irish sites.

But which industries actually wear it, and which ranges suit which jobs? Here is the guide.

Construction and civil engineering

On Irish construction sites, hi vis winter jackets do most of the work. The T400 PW3 hi vis winter jacket and T160 PW3 hi vis winter jacket are site staples: waterproof, warm and certified to EN ISO 20471. Pair them with the PW374 reversible bodywarmer for milder days.

Portwest also covers the PPE side of a site, including retractable fall arrest blocks for work at height and clip on ear defenders that fit a hard hat.

Not sure which hi vis class your crew needs? Our guide to Class 1, 2 or 3 under EN ISO 20471 explains it.

Mechanical and electrical contractors

M&E crews spend the day climbing, kneeling and reaching, so they tend to choose Portwest’s stretch ranges. The DX4 collection mixes stretch panels with tough oxford weave, and the DX430 DX4 hi vis Class 2 winter jacket and DX479 hybrid baffle bodywarmer give a sharper look for contractors who are also on show to clients.

Embroidery is the usual finish here. See printed or embroidered jackets for how to choose.

Utilities, energy and welding

Where there is flame, heat or static, Portwest’s Bizflame and Bizweld ranges come in. They are built to flame resistant standards such as EN ISO 11612, with antistatic options and FR reflective tape on the hi vis versions. They are used offshore, in welding and fabrication, and on utility networks.

These garments need FR approved branding, so talk to us before you order and we’ll advise on the right decoration.

Ports, logistics and warehousing

Yards and warehouses run on vests. The 2 band hi vis waistcoat and hi vis zipped vest are the everyday choices, and the Berlin executive hi vis vest gives supervisors and visitors pockets and an ID holder.

For large vest orders, our printed hi vis vests page has volume pricing.

Manufacturing, pharma and food sites

Production sites need hearing protection, hand protection and hard wearing trousers more than heavy outerwear. Portwest’s ear plug dispensers keep plugs at the line, while Preston trousers and the Nantes hi vis contrast coverall cover maintenance and engineering teams.

For gloves, see our cut resistant glove guide.

Trades, facilities and councils

Painters, maintenance teams and facilities staff need workwear that looks smart and survives the wash. The Portwest painters trousers are made for exactly that.

Portwest’s KX3 range even has interchangeable zip tabs that can be matched to corporate colours, a small detail that makes a branded uniform look deliberate.

Hospitality and catering

Portwest also makes chefswear, from chefs jackets to trousers and accessories. If you want kitchen and front of house staff in the same brand as your maintenance team, ask us for the range.

Women on site

Portwest makes women’s fits across its hi vis ranges, such as the PW3 hi vis women’s winter jacket. Our guide to women’s safety workwear that fits covers what to look for.

Rolling out Portwest across a whole team

Whatever your sector, a uniform rollout works best when one supplier handles the garments and the branding together. We build a kit list by role, bring samples for sizing, send a free digital proof, then embroider or screen print everything in Limerick. Your logo files stay on record, so reorders for new starters match the original kit.
